Latest Deck13 game officially announced as The Surge: new artwork, story elements and logo unveiled!
German developer Deck13 and Focus Home Interactive today reveal the title of their upcoming Action-RPG: The Surge. Along with the official title of the game and its logo, discover a new official artwork, indicative of the kinds of areas you'll explore and fight in The Surge!
Set in a heavily dystopian future as Earth nears the end of its life, those who remain in the overpopulated cities must work to survive as social programs become saturated by an ageing population and increasing environmental diseases.
As the intelligence of technology incrementally increased over the years, many jobs for the human race had been made redundant, forcing Earth's citizens to head out into the suburbs seeking labor, aided by exoskeletons to improve their efficiency. The world of The Surge offers a very grim vision of the future, where the evolution of our technology, our society and our relation with the environment led to a decadent state of the Human civilization.

The Surge ~ New details and concept art
Deck13新作《The Surge》世界观和设定介绍
5 things you need to know about The Surge, from the team behind Lords Of The Fallen
Hey guys! This is Jan Klose, CEO and Creative Director at Deck13. You may know us from Lords of the Fallen, but we’re back with The Surge, our new action-RPG.
We know we haven’t talked about The Surge much since we announced it earlier this year, but today we’re here to tell you a little more about the world, combat and upgrade system, and talk a little about what inspired it!
So without further ado, here are five things you absolutely need to know about The Surge:
1. The world is inspired by the worst-case scenario for today’s problems
Earth, in a dystopian future where robotics and mega-corporations work hand-in-hand in an effort to preserve what’s left of Earth’s fragile climate. Quite frankly, the real world is what inspired us most.
I mean, take a look at recent trends in technology, robotics, AI, renewable energies… but also the political, environmental and economic development in the last 30 years. Where will all this end? If it were to end badly… welcome to The Surge.
There’s also an element of philanthropy we’ve touched upon in the story; where corporations fronted by internationally lauded characters claim they’re working for the greater good, but each year encroach more and more into the creepy. Drones to deliver goods, advertisements that seemingly read your mind, where would that all go in a few decades?
2. Setting the world in a dystopian industrial future allows for awesome combat!
Using a near future scenario, we can pick up a lot of trends from the real world and play with them, and we love that! Working with the fusion of people and technology also lets us do great crazy stuff gameplay-wise.
And it’s so focused: It all comes down to a stronger core mechanic which is the tactical close combat. Cut off limbs, and upgrade yourself with a mix of cybernetics, bone, flesh, and gadgetry. This is a gritty future – it isn’t robots vs humans, it’s cybernetics and man-kind rather inelegantly gnawed, sawed, and nailed together, trying to improve what it is to be human… or, rather, making the human manufacturing machine more efficient.
In The Surge, most of what you see isn’t designed for combat, but when push comes to shove… a shove with hydraulics behind it is going to win.
3. Slice and dice your way to upgrades
The player’s progression is strongly bound to his most important asset: The Exo Suit he is wearing. This rig allows him to move with more agility and perform stronger moves, but you can also attach armour parts and weapons to it and improve its power level, and manipulate it in a variety of ways.
So instead of having some “fantasy” values that for example boost your hero’s strength all of a sudden without an apparent explanation, you are “really” modifying your character in The Surge, by improving all the technology that’s working in a fusion with the human body.
4. It’s going to be tough, but you’ll learn quickly and the rewards are worth it!
The game will be difficult, yes. There’s a huge element of risk/reward. You need to analyse your enemies, find their weak spots, and then take a counter measure of your choice to confront them and bring them down. And yes, you are going to die a couple of times in the process.
The difference to Lords of the Fallen is that we take more time introducing the different features for the player at the beginning of the game. Not in a lengthy tutorial, but as you are advance in the game, the features that will help you overcome your enemies will come one by one so that you can grasp the whole toolset of possibilities and not miss on some of them just because they were introduced poorly.
5. Our experience with PS4 has allowed us to push the boat out
Yes, it’s great to do another game on the platform. We’re using our own engine again, but because the console hardware stays the same and we’re further developing our technology, as well as our experience with the PS4, we can do even greater things this time. We can take what we’ve learnt and then add another layer. That’s very exciting from a developer’s point of view, and it’s rare that you get such a chance. We want to make the best out of it.
Deck13’s upcoming action-RPG today released its first screenshot, along with a render artwork of the main character.
Set on a dystopian Earth nearing the end of its life, The Surge offers a grim vision of our future. Accelerating advancements in technology and our abuse of the environment has led to an overly decadent civilization that now lies on the brink of collapse.
The Surge features innovative combat mechanics with a unique character progression system based on modular upgrades gained through the tight, visceral combat.
The images released today show The Surge’s hero, equipped with his exoskeleton which serves as a base to upgrade your equipment. When fighting enemies, you can target specific parts or limbs to recover specific pieces of armor, weapons, or equipment you want to attach to your own exoskeleton. Of course, the best parts will often be the hardest to cut off – and they’ll usually be attached to the most dangerous enemies! Even the most common enemies can prove deadly, and the game features imposing bosses who will truly put your wits, guts and reflexes to the test.
Be sure to stay tuned as we unveil more information about The Surge over the coming months.

The Surge: Mechanical Monstrosities Revealed in New Screenshots
The Surge is the new sci-fi Action RPG from developer Deck 13, set in the near-future. Play as a CREO factory employee Warren, equipped with a highly advanced mechanical exoskeleton designed to assist in heavy industrial labour. Start your journey as a new CREO applicant, in a massive international company dedicated to repairing the atmosphere and addressing climate control. Soon, danger rears its ugly head, and you will have to upgrade your exoskeleton to fight and survive.
The Surge's combat system is fast-paced, tactical, and brutal, with an innovative limb targeting system enabling you to attack and cut off specific limbs, farming materials to craft upgrades for your exo-suit. Some enemies will have less armour on their legs or their arms, making for an easy kill, but poor loot! You have to decide if you want to go for the easy kill, or instead opt for modules and crafting materials that will give you a combative edge.
The screenshots revealed today show off some of the security forces you'll be facing in your adventure. They use the same exo-suit technology as you but have tools built for combat, making them incredibly deadly foes. In The Surge, you will not just be facing opponents your own size; towering mechanical enemies armed to the teeth are ready to face against you.
The Surge will be present at E3 2016 in Los Angeles on June 14-16.
Become man and machine when The Surge releases in 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

The Surge E3 trailer introduces its dystopian world set in the near-future
Hi readers! Jan from Deck 13 here. We’re currently working away on our new game The Surge, a visceral sci-fi action RPG on PS4 with a few mechanical twists. Today we’re talking combat mechanics and crafting integral to the core gameplay experience.
Fitted with an advanced CREO exo-suit, balancing your core power against your implants and exo-suit upgrades will allow you to specialize in a huge variety of combat styles, thanks to the almost limitless combinations of exo-suit add-ons and dozens of make-shift weapons salvaged from the industrial complex at CREO. Finely tune your gear to match your playstyle, and to best suit the challenge ahead.
What’s more, the Metroidvanian levels open up as your core power increases, allowing you to over-charge doors previously too strong for your suit to damage, opening new pathways to explore. The CREO facility is vast, and if you want to find and craft the best equipment and weapons, you’ll need to explore every area for secrets and hidden items.
The Surge features innovative combat mechanics, allowing you to target individual limbs, dismembering the exo-suit add-on, or weapon, that you want to acquire. Collecting tech-scrap and blueprints, you’ll be able to return to the Operation Center to level up and craft new exo-suit add-ons and weapons salvaged throughout the level.
These can even be acquired from the world’s gigantic, industrial bosses. Most of what you encounter in The Surge was never designed to kill you, and most of the items you loot and craft were never designed for combat, but the combined strength of the exo-suit and near-future technology of CREO turn anything from fork-lifting add-ons to laser cutters into lethal weapons and armor suitable for diving deeper into the CREO complex.
We can’t wait to see what you think of The Surge when it launches next year on PS4.
Mini-bosses of visceral action-RPG The Surge revealed in new screenshots
Deck 13's new hardcore action-RPG, The Surge, today unveils some of the game's mini-bosses set to prowl the hallways of overrun industrial complex CREO. From CREO's elite security forces to malfunctioning industrial machinery, these enemies make up just a few of the dangers facing Warren throughout the dangerous environments of The Surge.
Led by a billionaire philanthropist, a project developed by CREO – a mysterious industrial and R&D megacorporation – designed primarily to reverse the effects of climate change on the planet is just beginning to take shape as something ominous.
Although most dangers in The Surge were not originally designed for combat, CREO's security forces exist to maintain order within the complex. CREO's 'robot dog' is a leaping quadruped designed to track down and kill any intrusions. As with most threats in The Surge, it has a weakness – although heavily armored, players can hit vulnerable places in order to take it down, and loot it, faster.
The Echelon 9 security forces, armed with anti-personnel combat gear, are armored in the GOLIATH-class armor making them extremely fast and strong. Although contrary to CREO's image as a planet-saving company, CREO's internal security forces' primary goal is to protect CREO from outside interference, as the stakes are high.
One of the many malfunctioning industrial machines throughout CREO, the Smelter was designed to be impervious to tampering, making it extremely difficult to shut down. With ore-smashing gripper teeth and coolant forcing it to vent gasses to keeping it stable, you'll have to attack its most vulnerable inner workings at the right time to deactivate it.
You will have to make the most of your newly installed exo-suit, armors, and almost limitless armament combinations to survive CREO when The Surge slices its way onto consoles for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2017.作者: kirassss 时间: 2016-12-14 07:17 AM The Surge Gameplay Trailer ~ PS4, Xbox One & PC

The Surge: 4 minutes of gameplay of the upcoming action RPG from Deck 13 - Have a nice day at CREO Industries!
Deck 13's new hardcore action-RPG The Surge today unveils a few minutes of unedited gameplay, showing the visceral, uncompromising combat, the limb-cutting system, and a few of the brutal enemies prowling the dysfunctional CREO Complex.
While some of the earlier enemies encountered while exploring the complex – namely, your former fellow workers – have erratic behavior and may be defeated easily if you are not reckless, others are much more "combat-ready", and will hunt you down relentlessly.
Result of unspoken experiments, volatile prototypes built from secret nano-technology, or simply efficient death machines built for maintaining security in high-risk environments, these enemies leave no room for mistakes during combat. The slightest misstep, or moment of hesitation, will certainly mean death for you. However, these enemies wear some of the best equipment, weapons and implants you can claim for your own use. You'll have to decide if you wish to secure a victory, attacking their weak spots, or make your life a bit harder and aim for their armored parts, hoping to recover this precious equipment that will make you stronger, faster, tougher.
Balance the need for better equipment versus your own survival... but remember, you'll definitely need to power yourself up when you inevitably face the world's bosses, that will put your skill to the test!

The Surge launches in May, CGI trailer
The Surge will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in May 2017, Focus Home Interactive and Deck 13 announced.
A new CGI trailer, titled “Bad Day at the Office,” was also released. Here’s an overview of the trailer, via Focus Home:
Freshly recruited as an augmented worker, Warren’s first day coincides with a catastrophic event deep inside CREO, during the routine surgical operation meant to graft, through flesh and bone, the exo-suit required for the company’s employees. This disastrous event marks the first in a series of brutal events, turning this first day at CREO into a hellish nightmare of robots gone haywire, crazed employees with fried cranial implants, and artificial intelligence all wanting Warren dead.
Now equipped with a state-of-the-art exoskeleton, you’ll have to improvise in order to survive – tools manipulated by CREO workers, while not originally meant for combat, make for effective lethal weapons. The equipment pieces compatible with your exo-suit will make you faster, stronger, and sturdier. During battle, target specific limbs of your enemies, slice them and retrieve the powerful attached equipment to improve and power-up your own suit, allowing you to delve deeper in the CREO complex and attempt to put an end to the madness initiated by the Surge.
Focus Home Interactive will share more information about the game on February 1 and 2 at Le What’s Next de Focus in Paris.作者: kirassss 时间: 2017-2-17 07:18 PM 本帖最后由 kirassss 于 2017-2-18 04:37 PM 编辑
The Surge ~ 14 Minutes of Gameplay
Sci-fi action RPG The Surge unveils 14min of uncut gameplay commented by the developers
Upcoming sci-fi action RPG The Surge today reveals 14 minutes of gameplay with commentary from Deck13 Game Designer Adam Hetenyi. Explore the dystopian environments in CREO’s mysterious industrial and RND complex, the Abandoned Laboratories.
Fitted with an industrial exoskeleton, you must fight your way through CREO, equipping the spoils of combat to your suit. Armor and weapons are looted from enemies after duels, in which you will take advantage of The Surge’s unique limb-targeting system to attack and cut off parts of the enemy you want to equip or craft.
Targeting a part of the enemy which is armored will deal less damage, but you will earn the opportunity to deal a finishing blow that will cut off the limb in-tact, allowing you to loot the spoils, gain blueprints, and tech-scrap used to level up your exoskeleton.
The Surge features vertical and horizontal attacks, which are used in combination with parry’s, ducks and jumps as well as a boosted dodge – courtesy of your exoskeleton – culminating in swift, snappy, precise combat situations unlike anything experienced before.
At CREO, you will meet survivors who need help or who can offer assistance. Accepting missions can yield extra rewards, but you will have to balance that against your desire to go deeper into the complex, as the stakes grow ever higher – once dropped, your tech scrap will diminish over time.
Face the dangers of CREO and set your own challenges. Accept missions, learn more about CREO’s history and lore, and fight the various mini-bosses scattered throughout the environment, or play it safe and struggle to survive – it’s up to you.

The Surge Battles stronger, faster, tougher in new trailer, coming May 16 for Consoles and PC
Deck13's upcoming hardcore Action-RPG The Surge today unveils a new CGI trailer, showcasing intense, visceral combat between man and machine. After exploring Warren's first day at the office in the previous trailer, we now witness him battling mechanical foes deeper within the CREO complex.
Megacorporation CREO works to reverse the devastating effects of climate change, but the facility is hit by a mysterious, catastrophic event. After awakening from a blackout caused by this disaster, Warren is thrust into a deadly new world. Robots gone haywire, insane augmented co-workers and rogue AI - it seems like everything wants him dead.
Players are pitted in a desperate fight to survive, engaging these unpredictable foes in tight, visceral melee combat. Grow in power with The Surge's next-gen looting system - target and slice specific limbs off your enemies in battle, then equip the weapons or armor you dismember!
The Surge comes May 16, and is available to pre-order now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Visit the official website for more info.
The Surge - Target, Loot and Equip in limb-cutting new trailer
Deck13's upcoming hardcore Action-RPG The Surge comes to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on May 16, 2017. Today, the latest Target, Loot and Equip Trailer highlights the game's limb-slicing loot system in all its bloody, brutal glory.
The Surge gives players greater control over what they loot from defeated enemies. During combat, they can individually target specific body parts, which they can damage with a wise combination of vertical and horizontal attacks to then slice off - and what part they dismember directly determines what piece of equipment they loot. When approaching an enemy, players will make a difficult decision: do they target an unarmored body part for a shorter fight, or risk a lengthier, damaging battle for a chance at slicing off a shiny new piece of equipment?
Balancing risk and reward is core to succeeding in The Surge, and bold players will be rewarded well! The toughest enemies drop the most powerful weapons and armor, so if you see a piece of equipment you like the look of, you'll need to fight hard for it...or die trying.

The Surge ‘Combat’ trailer
Focus Home Interactive and Deck13 have released a new trailer for The Surge, introducing the action RPG’s combat system.
Here’s a brief overview of the trailer, via Focus Home:
As showcased in the Target, Loot & Equip Trailer, make use of vertical and horizontal attacks, as well as strike power, to target and dismember specific limbs, so you can loot what you cut. Looting upgrades for your exo-suit is key to progression, and surviving challenging physically based combat situations is a matter of skill.
Positioning and speed are vital, so make use of your exo-enhanced dodges, blocks, ducks and jumps to avoid attacks while managing stamina, ensuring you’re always in the right place to strike the limb you want, or to avoid a potentially damning blow. The rules of combat apply to both you, and your enemy : get hit in an unarmored limb, and you’ll go down faster. Take advantage of the enemy’s weaknesses while balancing your own, and you’ll walk away with his strengths.
But you’re not alone. Throughout your journey you’ll be assisted by your industrial drone, with abilities once used for CREO’s industrial needs now manipulated into a fighting machine. Shield yourself, or Burn, knock down, pull, and blast enemies at your will as you continue to fight in melee.
The Surge will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on May 16.
The Surge's brutal combat and unique setting are explored in behind-the-scenes trailer
Hardcore Action-RPG The Surge comes to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on May 16, 2017. Go behind the scenes in today's trailer, as the Deck13 team discuss how they created the game's brutal combat and unique sci-fi setting.
Delve into The Surge's industrial, near-future Earth setting, which tackles issues of environmental destruction, corporatism and misuse of technology relevant to our own world. Taking control of the exo-suited Warren, players will explore rich, secret-filled environments and venture deep into the heart of tech company CREO's devastated facility - all while battling crazed employees with fried cranial implants and robots gone haywire.
Using the limb-based targeting system, players can exploit enemies' weaknesses – though as Deck13's Thorsten Lange states, “the same rules apply for the enemies.” Positioning is of the utmost importance, and even the smallest misstep can end in death. Warren isn't an “overpowered superhero”, and combat animations were given credibility through extensive motion capture sessions with a stuntman, resulting in combat that feels weighty and satisfying.

Unleash Fire and Ice in The Surge with new, free Weapon DLC
Dystopian action-RPG The Surge is releasing today its first post-release DLC for free, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC players. Deck13’s hardcore sci-fi adventure has you fighting for survival in a facility ruined by a mysterious event called the Surge. Utilize your powerful exo-suit as you sever limbs, parts, and weaponry from your enemies using The Surge’s unique targeting mechanics and tight combat system. This free DLC brings 10 new weapons to the game – 5 of fire and 5 of ice – and you will have to fight for them.
Representing fire are the new MG-branded weapons. These high-tech military weapons are deadlier versions of CREO’s riot control products, capable of high physical damage with low elemental damage. Repeatedly attacking humanoid enemies with these red-hot blades will create a powerful fire-based explosion.
Also available in this DLC, the ice weapons cometh! These are CREO’s space travel testing tools, concepts and prototypes constructed in their very own R&D labs. These weapons were created to test materials in the cold darkness of space, and can harness extremely low temperatures. They are not designed for combat, however, so they have low physical damage but high elemental damage. Wielding these weapons provide a passive bonus to health.

The Surge expansion ‘A Walk in the Park’ announced
科幻RPG《机甲狂潮》“公园漫步”DLC公布
今日Focus Home 互动开发商 Deck13 公开了新作《机甲狂潮》科幻机甲战斗游戏公布了游戏的首个扩展内容“公园漫步”(A Walk in the Park)。
Focus Home Interactive has announced a “major expansion” for action RPG The Surge called “A Walk in the Park.” It will launch in early December alongside the release of The Surge: Complete Edition, which will include the full game and every downloadable content, including “A Walk in the Park.”
Here’s an overview of the expansion, via Focus Home Interactive:
The Surge has already dragged players deep into the high-tech CREO industrial complex, overrun by deadly machines, rogue AI and deranged exoskeleton workers. Now, its first major expansion A Walk in the Park gives players a breath of fresh air by taking them to an environment that’s more open and colorful, though no less deadly. CREO World is an amusement park built by CREO for its employees and their families. Forget your cravings for cotton candy though – CREO World was not spared from the disaster. The entire park is a deadly trap, where roaming rescue teams have gone insane and robotic mascots patrol freely, patiently waiting for new visitors to offer a deadly welcome.
CREO World presents a wealth of fresh challenges for players. Originally built to celebrate CREO and its mission, the park is a radically different setting from the rest of the complex, full of branching paths and secrets to discover. Survive the raging mascots and explore the park’s attractions, before taking on a fearsome boss in the devastated park. Through technical and spectacular fights, you will face this new threat, cutting and equipping 16 all-new weapons, sets of armour, and implants to upgrade and further customise the way you want to play.
The A Walk in the Park expansion enriches and extends the experience of the original game, offering a challenge for even the most hardcore players in a striking environment.
The Surge is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Focus Home Interactive and Deck13 are happy to announce the renewal of their partnership with the development of The Surge 2
After the success of The Surge, the hardcore Action RPG released in May 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, Focus Home Interactive and Deck 13 are happy to announce the renewal of their partnership and the development of The Surge 2, with a release date planned for 2019 on consoles and PC.
The Surge 2 keeps what fans and critics loved about the original – hardcore combat utilizing a unique, dynamic limb targeting system and deep character progression – while also expanding greatly upon the formula. The Surge 2 takes place in a brand new environment: a sprawling, devastated city with larger and more ambitious level design, made possible by Deck13’s upgraded and improved engine. Combat is more brutal and tactical than ever, with even more options thanks to an expanded limb targeting system. In addition, more abilities, weapons, implants, and drones give players a vast arsenal to build their character with, in their fight against the array of diverse new enemies and bosses.
More information about The Surge 2 will be unveiled at Le What’s Next de Focus – February 7-8, the yearly press event organized by the French publisher in Paris. Deck13 will talk more about their new title to the international press, so stay tuned.

Become the Cutting Edge in The Surge with new, free Weapon and Armor DLC
Dystopian Action RPG The Surge is preparing to unleash its latest free DLC for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC players: the Cutting Edge Pack, and as good news always comes in pairs, the game and all of its DLCs are up to 75% off on Steam, PlayStation Europe and Xbox One.
The Cutting Edge Pack DLC will grant 3 new armor sets providing a variety of useful boons when worn in their entirety, 3 devastating weapons, as well as 3 brand new jumpsuits:
• The ANGEL was originally designed for operation in the harsh vacuum of space, some of the most inhospitable conditions known to man, and bestows faster attack speeds, better energy gain, harder impacts on CODENAME weapons.
• The ASCLEPIUS was meant to assist army veterans in gaining a new lease on life, but its regenerative powers will work well enough for you too.
• The NANO WARD gear uses bleeding edge technology to give your blocks some serious explosive power – if you can time them right.
On the more offensive side, CREO’s new weapons are the latest technology, prototypes for blue-sky projects that may never see the light of day – and certainly haven’t been safety-tested!
• The Experiment 44H, known as the Dark Star, never saw full production due to the madness of its creator leading to him sabotaging the whole project before more than one could be made. Its unique containment field will wreak havoc on enemies.
• The Engelhart is a boost tool that uses state-of-the-art technology to become searing hot anytime, anywhere. As potentially dangerous to the wielder as their enemies, it requires skill and practice to use effectively.
• The BioN J-1, codenamed Last Aid, is quite literally a surgical tool, originally designed for use in medical hospitals. After an unfortunate incident with a rogue doctor, it became known as a tool of carnage.
Once the DLC is installed you will find six fierce new enemies in Abandoned Production, Executive Forum, and Nucleus that must be defeated to acquire the new items.
