Bandai Namco Entertainment America Invites Players to be Whisked Away on an Enchanting Adventure in Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom
Leading interactive entertainment media publisher and developer Bandai Namco Entertainment America is pleased to announce that Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is in development for the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system. Developed by famed Japanese video game studio, Level-5; Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom features an all-new cast of charming characters, an emotional storyline, and innovative gameplay design that will delight and challenge players.

Bandai Namco has has released the E3 2017 trailer for Ni no Kuni II: Reveant Kingdom.

Ding Dong Dell
A once peaceful kingdom inhabited by cats and mice. However, with the coup by mice minister Mausinger, the king was overthrown and Ding Dong Dell became a town where the cats are oppressed.

“The long reign of the Mau family will come to an end.”

Aide to Rauzeo*, the former king of Ding Dong Dell. He assassinated the king by secretly serving him poison. After, he led a coup in order to bury Evan, who ascended to the throne. After the coup, he became the king of Ding Dong Dell.

Valley of the Wind Snake*
A rugged valley where the wind is always blowing. It towers high as if to divide Ding Dong Dell and other countries. It is the territory of the air pirate Batu, who is known as the “Serpent of the Sky*.” One of the king’s cradles lies at the end of the valley.

Goldpaw
Goldpaw is a country where everything is decided by dice. Gambling is regarded as the country’s key enterprise. It has a thriving casino industry and many tourists visit to go to the casino.
Dice are also used when it comes to trials and the country’s major decisions. When there is an especially important decision to be made, a huge bronze statue called “Lady Luck” shakes the dice before the people. The only ones who can roll the dice are astrologers, and Pugnacius is the top one among them.

“This month’s taxes are for 6x, make sure you pay them!”
The king of Goldpaw. An astrologer regarded as the guardian of Lady Luck. He is originally from a poor family. He positioned gambling as the country’s key enterprise, maintains casinos, and is the driving force being the country’s considerable growth. Once a month there is a rite to determine the tax rate, but he illegally manipulates it to impose heavy taxes on the people.
■ Characters
Aranella
“Please, Lord Evan, become the true king, and save this world…”
An attendant of the kingdom who looked after Evan since he was younger. She received battle and escort training in order to protect Evan. Evan loves her like a mother, and ever since the queen herself died, she strives to serve as a substitute for his mother.
Batu
“You guys entered our territory. In our world of air pirates, invasion of sky territory is worth the death penalty.”
A man feared and known throughout the land of Ni no Kuni as the “Serpent of the Sky.” The Valley of the Wind Snake is his territory. He is lively and big-hearted, and popular among air pirates. He took in a young Tani and is raising her as his daughter.
Auntie Martha
“They can only be seen by people who have a ‘pure heart.’ These little ones.”
A user of small spirits known as Higgledies. However, she mainly uses them as housekeeping helpers. She helps out Evan and Roland in various ways, for example by teaching them how to use Higgledies, after the two saved her from the attack of a frenzied monster.
■ Battle System
Close-Range Attacks
Evan’s standard attack. Unleash various attacks by combining button presses. Make use of the jump action for a higher-positioned attack.
Ranged Attack
A ranged attack that uses Evan’s staff. This allows you to target enemies at a distance. The power of the attack changes depending on the casting time.
Skills
Pay attention to the blue gauge above the HP gauge. By consuming this gauge, you can use skills such as “Consecutive Slash.”
Higgledies Cooperation
Higgledies are reliable allies that establish an emotional bond with Evan and company, and fight alongside them. Fighting alongside them will have a big influence on the tides of battle.
Higgledies work without rest even in battle. They have various effects, such as attacking by throwing a spear and healing injured party members.
When activating a skill, by focusing your strength, you can borrow power from the Higgledies around you.
—Skill: “Spinning Slash”
Left: The skill without borrowing the power of the Higgledies.
Right: By cooperating with the Higgledies, you can unleash a cooperative attack with the Fire, Water, and Wind Higgledies. Throw together a variety of attributes to make sure to hit the enemy’s weak point.
—Skill: “Aqua Ball”
Left: The skill without borrowing the power of the Higgledies.
Right: By cooperating with the Higgledies, you can unleash a cooperative attack with the Water Higgledies. The level of magic increases and the explosion becomes powerful enough to overtake the enemy.

During battle, a circle of Higgledies may surround Evan. At these times, you can issue orders to the Higgledies and gain various special effects. The Wind Higgledies can increase your defense.
The White Higgledies increase your attack power.
Master the use of weapons, magic, Higgledies, and skills to take on formidable enemies!
■ Guardians
Guardians are huge mythical beasts that protect the country. In Ni no Kuni, it is necessary to form a contract with them in order to become a king. The stronger the power of the country itself, the stronger they become. The guardian of a major country has great power that is beyond even the strength of large army. When the country is in danger, the guardian protects it.
Condition for Forming a Contract with a Guardian—Overcome their Trial
If the above conditions are met, the king and the guardian will be connected like a string by an orb, and a contract will be formed.
Lofty, a Guardian
“I’m a great guardian! If you say rude stuff like callin’ me fluffy or tiny, I’ll spark you to death!”
The guardian of the country founded by Evan. He issued Evan a challenge and recognized him as a king after it was cleared. He is somewhat unreliable, and although he has the appearance of a cute mascot character, as he says himself, “I’m amazing when I go all out.”
Longfang, a Guardian
The guardian of Goldpaw. Although it is a kind-hearted guardian, it is always misunderstood as angry because of its scary face. A guardian of considerable learning, Longfang is pleased with the source of knowledge that is Goldpaw’s archives. He keeps his eyes on the world and understands the current state of things to some extent.
“Trial of Courage” King’s Cradle
In order to become a king, it is essential form a contract with a guardian. Only someone who is tested at a king’s cradle where a guardian awaits can obtain the qualifications of a king.
In order to form a contract with a guardian, Evan goes to the king’s cradle. Awaiting him there is a trial of “Courage” that he must confront.
■ Longfang, a Guardian
The guardian that is supposed to protect the city has become a deity of destruction. Battle against Longfang, a guardian with overwhelming strength.

Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom will have online multiplayer, developer Level-5 president and CEO Akihiro Hino confirmed in an official Bandai Namco interview released today.
“There will be multiplayer,” Hino said. “You will be able to play online with your friends in various capacities.”
Asked whether we’d see returning characters, Hino said, “Although I can confirm that there will be all sorts of cool characters in this sequel, for now the characters that are returning will remain secret. I would love for our fans to play the game and enjoy the surprises.”

Tell us a little bit about the game.
Hino: “This is the sequel to the very successful game Ni no Kuni, which was also released here in the U.S. This time around, our protagonist is a child who is tasked with unifying the world. He does this by travelling to different countries and fighting various enemies throughout the world.”
Tell us about the gameplay modes and styles
Hino: “At its core, Ni no Kuni is an RPG game where you traverse the world map and go on adventures. However, a large part of the mechanics of the game deal with the kingdom building. Throughout your adventure you collect things to help your kingdom grow, and that is a big part of the gameplay as well.”
Tell us about the characters.
Hino: “Although there will be a wide range of characters Evan will encounter in Ni no Kuni, today I’d like to focus our attention on the five kings we will encounter in the story. As he travels to these different kingdoms, he encounters different kings. Each of these kingdoms Evan travels to has their own respective issues and problems. Through helping the kingdoms resolve these issues, Evan grows as a leader, as a king. There are important lessons that Evan learns from each kingdom, which help him grow as a leader.”
How did you improve the battle system?
Hino: “Even in the era of the first Ni no Kuni, I could tell that there was a new trend in RPG combat. People really wanted something cool and flashy. So we put a lot of effort towards the effects and action sequences in our combat system. We also significantly improved the system mechanics behind switching characters. Additionally, Higgledies can be used to help stop a boss or to implement a special attack. There will be multiple levels of strategy in switching characters for different kinds of support. Compared to standard RPG combat, this gameplay is really fun.”
Will the old cast return, such as Mr. Drippy or Oliver?
Hino: “Although I can confirm that there will be all sorts of cool characters in this sequel, for now the characters that are returning will remain secret. I would love for our fans to play the game and enjoy the surprises.”
Will there be multiplayer?
Hino: “Yes, there will be multiplayer. You will be able to play online with your friends in various capacities.”
Do I have to play the first game to understand the story?
Hino: “So this is a completely different story. Even those who have not yet played the original will enjoy immersing themselves into this game. That being said, there are easter eggs that players familiar with the original will notice, and they might enjoy the game on a different level than those who have not played the original. Level-5 has updated the official Japanese website for Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom with new screenshots and information on Higgledie Leaders, advice from Lofty during battle, and a teaser for the kingdom-building Kingdom Mode.

■ Higgledie Leaders
If you look closely enough, you’ll see a slightly stylish Higgledie among a group of Higgledies. This is the “Higgledie Leader.” There are various types of Higgledie Leaders.
—The Higgledie Leader brings together a big group of Higgledies. A circle can be made around the Fire Higgledies, and a special icon will be shown above the Higgledie Leader.
—If you issue an order to the Fire Higgledies, they will form a dome-shaped defense barrier around Evan.
—The defense barrier negates the the damage Evan receives. By making appropriate use of Higgledie Leaders in this way, you can fight through battles more with an upper hand.
Depending on the Higgledie Leader, the role of the Higgledies will significantly change.
■ Lofty’s Advice
Lofty will sometimes give you battle advice. When the enemy is down is your chance to strike! Use skills to deal heavy damage.
■ Kingdom Mode
By introducing new people of talent and technology to the kingdom established by Evan, you can receive various benefits on your adventure and in battle. By assigning people of talent to the right places, you can develop the kingdom more efficiently.
In order to develop your kingdom, you must focus not only on the castle, but manage the various facilities and people of talent around the castle. Since developing the kingdom results in a more favorable journey for the player, be sure to build up your kingdom.

The trailer focuses on Roaldn, a president from Ichi no Kuni, as he is transported to Ni no Kuni and becomes a close companion of Evan Pettywhisker, the deposed king of Ding Dong Dell. Two new characters are also introduced: Nerea, the beautiful queen of the land of Thalassea, and Leander, her advisor.

A PC version of Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch may be in the works.
When asked by PC Gamer at Gamescom 2017 whether the PlayStation 3 title would ever come to PC, Level-5 president and CEO Akihiro Hino laughed and responded, “I’ll leave that up to your imagination for now, but stay tuned for more official announcements. I’ll leave it at that.”

Thalassea, a water country ruled by the beautiful Queen Homedias. It is said to be a country of strict law enforcement and control, and whose people are constantly monitored by the “Eye of the Queen” that projects from the sea.
Celius
“The prosperity of this kingdom is a result of the power of Her Majesty the Queen.”
A close associate of Queen Homedias of Thalassea. He is frighteningly sharp, but is no match for the Queen, who ends up stomping on him with high heels. He is cold enough to make extremely “strategic” judgments.
Homedias
“Why would the populace gather for an inexperience man like yourself?
The beautiful queen that rules over Thalassea. She keeps the people in order with various strict laws, but keeps the country at peace through the skills of Celius. There is a major secret known only by the Queen and Celius, which is connected to the reason she imposes such strict laws.
Capstan Upon Hull
Capstan Upon Hull is a small port town that makes a living off the shipbuilding business. There seem to be skilled shipbuilders here. However, the town has few people and an unusual atmosphere. It seems that some sort of accident occurred here.

Boddly
“The ‘Divine Boddly National Archive’ does not allow first time customers. Please go home.”
Age unknown. Director of the Goldpaw National Archives. As someone who has been handed down the history of Ni no Kuni, she is said to be a living history book, and tells Evan and company of “The Legend of Brahavan.”
■ Kingmakers
Brineskimmer, a Kingmaker
The Kingmaker of Thalassea. At the bottom of the sea, there is a king’s cradle that rarely manifests. Brineskimmer can swim around freely in the sea, and specializes in water and ice attacks. It is accompanied by a servant called “Odis, the Sea God,” who also possesses great power.
■ Kingdom Mode
Estavania, the Country Established by Evan
Expand your territory, construct buildings, and put talented individuals to work!
Weapon and armor production workshops, magic research establishments, shops… by constructing buildings and putting talented individuals to work within them, you can produce the items and abilities necessary for Evan’s journey.

■ Skirmishes
In Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, there are “skirmishes” different from your usual adventure during which it is necessary to advance as a country and as an army against enemies and monsters.
During a skirmish, the entire field becomes the battlefield.

Evan has overcome the trials of the king’s cradle and forged a bond with a kingmaker. Now all he needs is a kingdom to rule. He begins to make his way to the uninhabited territory of the Heartlands in the hopes of establishing his realm there, but finds the path blocked by a swarm of bloodthirsty bandits. There’s only one way through—to arms!

Determined to prove his right to rule, Evan is on his way to take a trial at the king’s cradle when both he and Roland are captured by sky pirates. Just when it seems certain they will be put to death, a young girl named Tani swoops in to grant them a stay of execution. Bandai Namco has released a new set of Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom screenshots and artwork highlighting the various types of Higgledy partners players will encounter throughout the game, as well as Kingdom Mode.
As you progress through the story, Evan will encounter spirits called Higgledies, who will aid Evan and his friends in battle by automatically attacking enemies, providing elemental or physical buffs to party members in battle, and opening shortcuts and new pathways in dungeons and throughout the world. There are 100 unique Higgledies in the game, including Higgledy heroes, each with their own unique attacks and special powers.
Kingdom Mode gives Evan the opportunity to regain his throne by creating Evermore, a new kingdom where people can live in peace. Players will create and place a variety of buildings to set up the kingdom’s infrastructure and provide jobs to citizens. Additional storefronts will grant access to new items, weapons, and Higgledies.
Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is due out for PlayStation 4 and PC on March 23.
Bandai Namco has released a short new trailer for Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom that tours the in-game city of Goldpaw.
As previously detailed, Goldpaw is a country where everything is decided by dice. Gambling is regarded as the country’s key enterprise. It has a thriving casino industry and many tourists visit to go to the casino. Dice are also used when it comes to trials and the country’s major decisions. When there is an especially important decision to be made, a huge bronze statue called “Lady Luck” shakes the dice before the people. The only ones who can roll the dice are astrologers, and Goldpaw’s king, Pugnacius, is the top one among them.

Following last week’s “Goldpaw Tour” trailer, Bandai Namco has released another trailer for Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom that tours the in-game city of Hydropolis.
Hydropolis is a a water country ruled by the beautiful Queen Nerea. It is said to be a country of strict law enforcement and control, and whose people are constantly monitored by the “Eye of the Queen” that projects from the sea.

Greetings, PlayStation fans! We know you’re super excited about the upcoming release of Ni no Kuni II on March 23, but we’ve got a huge update to tide you over…
Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom has gone gold, and March 23 is the date! The wait is almost over for the sequel to one of the most critically acclaimed RPGs ever. The graphical upgrade from the first game is astounding, the music composed by Joe Hisaishi is magical and the story created by Level-5 is something that will keep you enthralled from start to finish!
Now then, let’s get into the details from the Behind the Scenes video. First off there’s the combat system, it’s a lot different from the first Ni no Kuni in many ways. You’re now able to move, attack, switch weapons and characters in real-time. This allows allow an unprecedented amount of freedom in how you approach each battle.
Another huge aspect of combat are the Higgledies, if you’re familiar with the Familiars from the first game, you’ll feel right at home giving commands to these little guys. Higgledies are much more than just combat fodder, they’ll go on the offensive during battle, cast spells, summon weaponry and buff your party. There are also a special class of Higgledies called Higgledy Heroes to discover and recruit throughout your adventure, each Higgledy Heroes has a unique look and personality. Outside of assisting you in battle, Higgledy Heroes are invaluable during your travels as they will open up new routes, clear pathways, and show you hidden passages.
Behind the Scenes – Kingdom Mode
Our main character of this story is Evan, a deposed King who must rebuild his kingdom. We didn’t want you to just watch Evan return to glory as a ruler. To truly have a significant impact, we wanted you to experience what it’s like to pick up the pieces and build your realm back up from scratch. That’s where the Kingdom Mode comes in, this mode will allow you to develop your very own kingdom full of shops to buy items, forges to build weapons, centers to study magic and even facilities where you can build an airship to travel the over-world map. You can spend hours in Kingdom mode. It’s so huge, it can be a game onto itself!
Behind the Scenes – Skirmish Mode
One of the most difficult aspects of ruling a kingdom is defending your kingdom from invaders. In order to showcase the large-scale battles associated with invasions we’ve created the Skirmish Mode. In this mode, Evan becomes a field commander with four units made of characters you’ve recruited to join your cause and kingdom. Completing these skirmishes will net you Kingdom Points that allow you to recruit new subjects, construct new buildings or expand your facilities in Kingdom Mode. In short, take out the invaders, grow your new kingdom and gain advantages on your journey to reclaim your place as the rightful king!

Bandai Namco Entertainment are excited to announce that Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is available from tomorrow for PlayStation 4 and PC. Developed by world-renowned video game studio Level-5, with participation from former Studio Ghibli animator Yoshiyuki Momose and music composed by Joe Hisaishi, Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is ready to enchant gamers across the world in an epic role-playing game.
A treacherous coup has dethroned Evan Pettywhisker Tildrum, the young ruler of Ding Dong Dell. Evan along with the help of his friends Roland, Tani, Batu, Lofty, and many others will build a new kingdom free of strife while uniting the whole world of Ni no Kuni. Across Evan’s grand adventure, players can explore a beautifully crafted world filled with exotic locations, a wide cast of characters to encounter, dangerous foes and plenty of allies eager to help. Supporting Evan on his adventure will be natural phenomena known as Higgledies. The Higgledies will provide invaluable support during battles including offensive and defensive buffs, increasing special attack power for Evan and his friends and assist in attacking enemies. There are 100 unique Higgledies to collect, each with its own special powers. Mix and match different combinations of Higgledies during combat to strategically secure the upper hand in battles.
Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom provides two additional game modes for players to engage in as they progress through the game’s main story. As Evan reclaims his crown in the newly formed kingdom of Evermore, he must manage all aspects of daily life within its borders. Players will erect shops, farms, barracks and a host of other facilities to increase the economy of Evermore and provide new equipment for Evan and his allies as they venture further into the world. Hire residents to staff these shops and research new items and abilities to increase Evermore’s influence across the land. Evan will also lead an army into skirmish battles. These large-scale battles against other armies will test the resolve of Evan’s military might. Recruit new generals with special abilities to take down the opposing forces and claim victory!

Level-5近日宣布，旗下JRPG游戏《第二国度 2 王国再临(Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom)》的全球出货量加上数字版销量已经达到了90万套！而凭借这一优秀的成绩，《第二国度》系列的游戏总销量也突破了280万套！
Publisher Bandai Namco and developer Level-5 have released the version 1.03 update for Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, which adds the Hard and Expert difficulty modes among other features.
Here are the patch notes:
Version 1.03
• New difficulty modes added: Hard and Expert. You can choose how hard you want your challenge to be when you select “New Game” from the title screen, or by entering the in-game options menu at any time. Three difficulty levels are available: Normal, Hard, and Expert. The higher the setting, the harder the battles will be, but this will be offset by rarer treasures from monsters, from the chests in the Faraway Forest, and certain other places. You’ll also be able to access the true potential of accessories, with monsters occasionally dropping ones with two skills! (This won’t affect any you already own.)
• Maximum quality level of equipment drops expanded (in Hard or higher).
• Chances of rare item drops increased (in Hard or higher).
• New equipment skills added.
• Rare accessories with second skill slot added.
• Various other game balance issues and minor bugs have also been addressed.
• A bug that allowed the airship to land in places where it should not be able to land has been fixed.
• Steam version only: A bug that made the player unable to control the camera at specific screen resolutions has been fixed.

Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom free DLC ‘Adventure Pack’ launches August 9, story expansions launch this winter and early 2019

A free “Adventuer Pack” add-on for Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom will launch on August 9, followed by the two larger add-ons that are part of the Season Pass later this winter and in early 2019, publisher Bandai Namco and developer Level-5 announced.
Here is an overview of each add-on, via Bandai Namco:
• Adventure Pack (free) – The Adventure Pack provides new challenges for experienced players. It adds additional floors to the Faraway Forest cave, upon clearing, players will be rewarded with new costumes for Evan and other characters. Players will have the opportunity to challenge themselves with even stronger new bosses: Blackhart and Zeta. Additional quests will be unlocked after completing the story and unique rewards can be acquired.
• Season Pass DLC #1 – Available this winter, this DLC will feature a brand new enigmatic dungeon for players to explore. Evan and friends will plumb the depths of this cryptic dungeon facing increasingly stronger enemies while trying to reach its deepest levels. The journey will be difficult, but the reward will surely be worth it!
• Season Pass DLC #2 – Expected to release early 2019, an additional story expansion of Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom will be available full of exciting content. More details to be announced soon.
