These books are designed as materials for teaching a small child to learn  to read Bahasa Malaysia, using a system of key phrases and words that are frequently used in Malay writing.

There are three levels (tahap 1, 2  & 3) in this series.  A child reads from the very simple sentences to more complicated sentences.  Every word is repeated many times throughout each book so that the child will remember the word naturally.

The first book in Level 1 uses the 24 key words  which are used repeatedly ("Ini Awie".  Additional words are  introduced gradually, page  by page, to expand the reader's  reading vocabulary, with the new words  on each page set out in a  footnote.  The  reader can also identify the pronunciation of the words  with the  help of  suku kata indicated in different colours.  The other  books in  this  series apply the same methodology.

Children are interested in the stories that happen around the main characters, Awie and Shasha, who are about their ages.  Furthermore, every book delivers a different theme closely related to a kid's daily activities.  All the books are colourful and well-designed to attract a child's attention.
