Konami Announces New Addition to the Metal Gear Solid V Universe: Metal Gear Survive
Konami Digital Entertainment today announced a new addition to the Metal Gear Solid V experience, Metal Gear Survive.
Available on PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft and PC via Steam in 2017, Metal Gear Survive is a brand new co-op, stealth game that takes a divergent look at familiar Metal Gear themes and pursues a fresh spirit of exploration in unique gameplay mechanics.
"We are delighted to announce another exciting addition to the Metal Gear franchise,” said Tomotada Tashiro, European President for Konami Digital Entertainment. "Metal Gear Survive will offer a fresh take on the series’ famed stealth elements but within a unique co-op setting that is designed for a truly engrossing multi-player experience.”
Metal Gear Survive picks up from the ending of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, to an alternate timeline caused by unexplained wormholes forming in the sky. Players find themselves on distorted desert landscapes full of massive half-formed structures, living biological threats, and the remains of a once strong military force now litter the landscape.
In a struggle to stay alive on this harsh terrain filled with deadly creatures, soldiers who were previously on Motherbase now must work cooperatively in order to survive. Metal Gear Survive continues the pedigree of Metal Gear Solid V's highly praised gameplay design, with a unique blend of stealth and co-op play mechanics. Players can strategically manage massive threats with the help of four-player online cooperative play. New weaponry will also be introduced to combat charging creatures and lethal environments as well.

Konami premiered the first ever gameplay footage of Metal Gear Survive during a Tokyo Game Show 2016 stage event.
In Metal Gear Survive, players will join a squad of four players as they work together on a mission to infiltrate a dilapidated compound and then defend it from the onslaught of relentless creatures. Using co-op stealth, infiltration and defense tactics, and special new equipment and weapons, the video provides a glimpse at both the new and familiar survival elements in the game.

About
Konami Digital Entertainment breaks new ground with an original spin-off from Metal Gear Solid V titled Metal Gear Survive. This title introduces a fresh spirit of exploration, unique mechanics and strategic co-op gameplay.
Metal Gear Survive is a survival action game in an alternative universe. In a struggle to survive, and understand this new environment, players engage in both a Single Play and connected co-op Play. In the battle for survival scavenged materials must be wrought into usable items, gear and weapons if you are to have any hope of making it home.
Key Features
Two ways to play – Single Play and CO-OP Play. These modes are linked via Base Camp. Character progress and gear carries between the two modes.
Build and develop your Base Camp. This offers access to weapon and gear crafting. As well as offering you a command centre for planning missions in Single Play and CO-OP Play.
Gather resources for use in crafting including blue prints and raw materials. These can be gathered in Single play by exploring the environment or won in successful CO-OP missions
Develop Base camp with new facilities to aid survival – including crop growing, animal rearing, food and water storage. As your camp develops you’ll gain access to high grade crafting items.
Manage resources, including human essentials such as food and water as well as raw materials used for weapons, defences and expendables.
Metal Gear Survive is due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in early 2018.

Metal Gear Survive picks up from the ending of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. Players are pulled through a wormhole and find themselves in a dangerous world filled with biological threats and hostile environments where they must survive and find their way home. Not only will they fight off deadly creatures, but also explore and forage the environment for food, water and other resources to stay alive. Scavenged materials can be used to build weapons, buildings and other useful items, as well as develop a base camp, where crop growing and animal rearing facilities can be added. New weaponry will also be introduced to combat charging creatures and lethal environments, as well as familiar weaponry such as Walker Gears and Fulton balloons.
Metal Gear Survive continues the pedigree of Metal Gear Solid V‘s highly praised gameplay, with a unique blend of stealth and survival mechanics. Players will be able to experience both a single player campaign and co-op of up to four players. In the single player campaign, players will learn resource management, character progression through base camp development, and craft useful weapons and equipment that can be utilized in the co-op gameplay. In co-op, players will fight with their comrades online to collect rewarding loot which can aid in the single player campaign.

KONAMI Reveals Single Player and Beta Details for Metal Gear Survive
This afternoon Konami revealed a first look at the single-player campaign for Metal Gear Survive through a new gameplay video with producer commentary. The video introduces basic survival and gameplay mechanics while showing key action sequences.
Additionally, Metal Gear Survive will be holding a beta from January 18th-21st, 2018. Players will have a chance to jump into co-op mode to build, defend and fight alongside friends online. The Beta will be available to download for PS4 and Xbox One players. Participants will also receive an in-game bonus redeemable with the purchase of the full game. Bonus items include a Fox Hound name plate, an accessory Metal Gear REX Head and Accessory bandana.
The release of Metal Gear Survive will follow for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via Steam on February 20th, 2018.

Several outlets have gone up with lengthy gameplay videos of the Metal Gear Survive beta, which will run from January 18 to 21 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The PlayStation Blog has also gone up with a “5 Tips to Survive the Metal Gear Survive Beta” post.
The beta will allow players to jump into co-op mode to build, defend, and fight alongside friends online. Users who participate in the beta will receive an in-game bonus including a Fox Hound” name plate, Metal Gear REX accessory, and bandanna accessory when the full game releases.
