Budapest-based developer NeocoreGames has announced Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr; an action-RPG it’s building in collaboration with Warhammer 40,000 creator Games Workshop.
NeocoreGames describes Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr as a “persistent sandbox action-RPG” and explains that the single-player campaign will thrust players “into a grim and secret war among the stars as the agents of the ever-vigilant Inquisition.” NeocoreGames also promises that, after the campaign concludes, the story will continue “in a colossal sandbox game” that the developer claims will give players “years of constant entertainment, gradual development and a continuous flow of content that enriches the action-RPG gameplay.”
“There’s a reason why we chose the world of Warhammer 40,000: it’s intense, brutal, visceral – a perfect material for an action RPG,” said producer Zoltán Pozsonyi in a statement. “Working with Games Workshop, we’re doing our best to bring a high quality game to the community. We’re huge fans as well, so we care deeply about this game.”
Hungarian studio NeocoreGames, founded in 2005, has developed several other RPGs, including King Arthur and The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing.
The announcement itself doesn’t linger on any real specifics so we don’t know a great deal else about Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr at this stage. It’s due out in 2016 for PC, Mac, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Skulls for the Skull Throne! 31 May - 4 June
Games Workshop video games on Steam unite for a Skull-themed sale and event, and NeocoreGames is proud to announce that Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr is participating as well!
During these days players can take part on a global event in the game in which you are collecting Skulls of the Innocent. By collecting 50 of these (dropped by various enemies), you will unlock a unique cosmetic item called Mask of the Martyrs for your character. Any character class can wear it, but it won't affect any stats. Because of this, you can keep the mask permanently (the character progress reset at launch won't affect this item). The global event will also have its own leaderboard.

Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr | Story Intro Trailer
NeocoreGames has released the biggest content update for Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr to date, adding a new terrain setting, a playable class and the first chapter of the Single Player Campaign!
The time has come. Early adopters of Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr can finally step on the deck of the 'Martyr' and begin their journey as the Inquisitors of the Imperium! The first chapter of the Single Player Campaign marks the beginning of this epic tale and also serves as a tutorial - it's an introduction to the unique gameplay mechanics of the game and to the cruel and unforgiving world of Warhammer 40,000.
In the January Update we also added the alpha version of the third playable character class to the game. The Primaris Psyker Inquisitor requires a very different gameplay style compared to the Crusader and Assassin Inquisitors. Psyker Inquisitors are incredibly powerful, but they must be careful with using their powers, because it may very well turn against them. They channel devastating otherworldly energies, but they always risk damnation doing so.
The January Update also contains a new terrain setting, gameplay optimization features, bug fixes and much more. Please read the full Patch Note.
