CITY STAR SET FOR TRANSFER TUG OF WAR

Manchester City winger Vladimir Weiss is set to be the centre of a tug of war when his season-long loan at Espanyol comes to an end in June.

The Slovakian international could still be part of Roberto Mancini’s plans at the Etihad Stadium, despite spending the past two season away from City at Bolton Wanderers, Rangers and Espanyol, but his excellent form in la liga this season has led to a number of clubs showing an interest in securing his services in the summer.
Weiss has played 19 times for Espanyol this term and scored two goals as the Barcelona club search for a top four finish and a coveted place in next season’s Champions League.
This form has lead to interest from Serie A sides Bologna and Cagliari, according to Italian media site ItaSportPress, although Espanyol coach Mauricio Pochettino is keen to keep the 22-year-old at the Cornella-El Prat next term, especially if they have a European campaign to fight.
However Pochettino is also said to be under no illusion as to the difficulty in keeping Weiss at the Blanquiblaus.
Mancini meanwhile is understood to still see Weiss as part of his long-term plans at the Etihad Stadium, although the player has had limited opportunity at City so far and has only managed one start and four substitute appearances in all competitions.

Scapuzzi looking to shine



Luca Scapuzzi is unsure whether he will see out the season with Manchester City or be sent out on loan, but he is hoping to make his mark in the future.

The 20-year-old playmaker is held in high regard at the Etihad Stadium, but there is fierce competition for places within the Blues' ranks.

Taking that into account, many of the club's youngsters are being forced to look elsewhere for games.

Scapuzzi was sent out on loan to League One outfit Oldham earlier this season, and caught the eye during a three-month stay at Boundary Park.

He has since returned to City with the intention of forcing his way into Roberto Mancini's plans, but accepts that he may have to be patient in his pursuit of regular first-team football.

"I don't know if I'll go out on loan again and stay away until the end of the season, it depends on what the coach decides," Scapuzzi told tuttomercatoweb.

Growth

"At the moment I am working here and that is important for my growth.

"My goal is to stand out at Manchester City. I know that will not be easy and it will take time, but City have tied me to a long-term contract and I want to stand out here."

Scapuzzi has also given his take on the ongoing Carlos Tevez saga, with the Argentine striker having returned to England after ending his self-imposed exile in his homeland.

"I think that the players will welcome him back because they have shared many victories together," he said.

"For City, Tevez was and still is a very important player. If he plays, he will bring added value and help City in their efforts to win the Premier League and Europa League."
