We are supposed to use only British English cuz the British were the ones who colonised our country in the past
The problem is that teachers in school don't emphasise the use of only British English
They consider your english correct as long as it's English, it doesn't really matter to them
But i would encourage you to stick to only one-- British english
Because you really need to know all the difference between these two types of English for the purpose of your future use
Cambridge uses British english, SAT uses American English if i am not mistaken
Most movies we watch are Americans, (prison break, etc), it's quite difficult to find British movies that are interesting
So for me i prefer watching Top Gear =)

Everytime i watch the EPL,especially when player speak to the media, i find that their accent is nice. so i voted for British English.

I had a Austalian teacher teaching at my school
most of them had the british slang in majority, and I like her slang too
