Actually if you wanted your level of English getting well
you are not suppose to use any short-form in any conversation
be cause you used to the short-form
you will forget the full sentence of the word~

Beside writing, there are also important for listening, speaking and reading.
There are many ways to improve our English level, such as more on reading English newspaper, English news, English radio, English drama, English songs, etc.
Keep it on.

in my opinion the best way to improve english is through reading...
as a student we can get cheaper price at THE STAR newspaper,i got buy everyday~
but now i stopped it the vocabulary were flooding me because i dun have enough time to digest it~
so it doesn't mean to read blindly we have really know what have we learn......
