At long last, the sun rises on a new age of battle! Relic Entertainment and SEGA today announced Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III, the long-awaited third instalment of the critically-acclaimed real-time strategy franchise. The loyal are rewarded!
Dawn of War III immerses players in the escalating brutality of galactic warfare, where they will lead elite hero units and colossal armies to victory, or oblivion. Powerful super-walkers will tower over the front lines as screen-shaking assaults blister the battlefield in an all-out, over-the-top spectacle worthy of the iconic Games Workshop Warhammer 40,000 universe.
Building on 12 years of explosive gameplay, Dawn of War III combines the epic scale of Dawn of War, with the customization and elite heroes of Dawn of War II. The result is a best-in-class edition giving players the rich strategic experience, stunning visuals, and catastrophic surprises that they’ve come to expect as Relic brings the franchise into the modern era.
“This is the Dawn of War that fans have been waiting for,” said Stephen MacDonald, the title’s Executive Producer. “Our biggest units ever? Check. Giant orbital lasers? Check. Base-building, epic heroes, huge battles, it’s all in there. Get ready for the biggest Dawn of War yet. For the Emperor!”
In an announcement trailer released this morning, Relic revealed the devastating forces of Space Marines, Eldar, and Orks locked in battle, slipping ever deeper into the darkness of endless war.
With previous instalments released prior to Relic’s acquisition in 2013, Dawn of War III will be a landmark release for Relic: its first main title produced entirely as a SEGA-owned studio.
“This announcement is a big moment for all of us at Relic, and at SEGA,” said Justin Dowdeswell, General Manager at Relic. “We’re setting the bar for what we can achieve, and showing players what they can expect from us in the future. This is just the beginning.”
On a small, lonely island in Ivoire lives Ash, a Phantom who lost his life in battle, and Marona, who has the ability to communicate with Phantoms. Sometimes, Marona receives Bottlemails that float along the sea.
Marona, who lost her parents when she was very young, makes her living by completing the requests inside the Bottlemails as a Chroma, a person who accepts freelance work to solve problems for people. However, because of her abilities, the people call her the "Possessed." Even if she completes her work, some clients will hesitate to pay her the reward because of her reputation.
Still, Marona stays optimistic and follows what her parents told her long ago: "Help people, and someday everyone will start to like you." Her goal is to save enough money to buy Phantom Isle, which she's currently renting. Like a subtle wave in the sea, the adventures of Marona and Ash are about to begin.

The Story
After a century in stasis the girl En arrives at her destination: A Palace out of legend, a marvel of the old civilization eons gone, still awaiting its first human occupants. Out here, using forgotten technologies, she hopes to bring back a life that shouldn’t have been lost. But nothing could have prepared her for what she’ll face in the ancient halls below.
The experience starts as a character driven journey of discovery, but as it unfolds it evolves into something altogether more punishing. Gameplay revolves around Stealth and Action, as you face off against the strange workings of this place. You might be quick on your feet and quite able to defend yourself, but everything has consequences here. Whatever your strategy, one thing is certain: You must keep your wits about you if you are to survive the Palace.
Who is Ultra Ultra?
Ultra Ultra is an independent game studio, based in Copenhagen, Denmark. We started production in March 2015, and consist of a core group of eight people. Most of us hail from IO-Interactive, where we have had the pleasure of contributing to the Hitman-games among others, over the past decade.
The studio was born out of a longing for stranger horizons. –The hardboiled realism of IO is something we greatly appreciate, but our true passion is to create something not of this world. Holding senior positions, it was no easy choice to leave, but in the end we had to make this happen. We are proud of our heritage, and we hope that it will shine through when playing Echo.
From the very beginning of Ultra Ultra we’ve been focused on the incredible opportunity it is to be independent game makers. We are free to make exactly the kind of games we want to play ourselves! Leaving behind the enormous machinery of mainstream AAA - and the astronomical cost that comes with it - we can focus our creativity on a product that is much more personal, and not based on market trends and user-research. We believe that this will be felt in the game, and hope for likeminded players to make this a viable strategy. -We can’t be the only ones who long for science fiction in the tradition of Solaris and 2001, surely?
