Life is Strange: Before the Storm Episode 1: 'Awake' Out Now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC

Square Enix, publisher of award-winning and best-selling videogame franchises such as Final Fantasy and Tomb Raider, today released an emotive new video that features real people, with real, genuine stories of friendship and love to celebrate the launch of Life is Strange: Before the Storm, out now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC.

The three-minute video, entitled “An Open Letter”, was been created to reflect the strong themes of friendship, love and support in the game.

In Life is Strange: Before the Storm, Chloe and Rachel develop a special bond over the time they spend together. Almost everyone can name that one person who defined a very special time of their life. In some cases, these relationships can span a few short months and in other cases, decades. To celebrate the release of Episode One, we invited a small group of real people to write an open letter to that special person in their own life…

Square Enix Vice President for Brand Marketing Jon Brooke said: "I wanted to capture the emotion and spirit of Life is Strange in a way that you don't usually see in video game advertising. As a game, it braves to be different, harnessing emotions rarely seen in video games and I wanted the advertising to match this. I am really pleased with how it turned out. It's designed to remind us that life is all about our relationships and a strong friendship can change everything. I hope everyone can relate to that."

Creative Agency, Ralph, spent many weeks reaching out to pairs of best friends, asking for stories and insights into how their friendship had lasted through even the toughest of times.

““We took a risk with this strategy and we wouldn’t have achieved the emotion within the video had we not chosen some extraordinary people willing to open their hearts on camera,” admitted Ralph’s Creative Director Gregor Stevenson. “The raw intensity of their reactions as they read their best friends’ innermost thoughts is what we wanted to capture from the start. And that’s what we got. Our goal was to portray each friendship in an engaging and empathetic way, whilst reflecting the authenticity and uniqueness of the characters in the game.”

Life is Strange: Before the Storm is the next game in Square Enix’s award-winning, multi-million copy selling, episodic franchise. Set in Arcadia Bay, three years before the events of the first game in the series. Players will take on the role of a rebellious 16 year-old Chloe Price who forms an unlikely friendship with Rachel Amber; a beautiful and popular girl destined for success. When Rachel’s world is turned upside down by a family secret, it takes this new-found alliance to give each other the strength to overcome their demons.

　　《奇异人生：暴风前夕》是一款全新推出的独立冒险故事，共有三个章节，本次放出的是第二章的宣传片，时间设定在本游戏首作发生之前的三年。

　　本次的主人公是叛逆少女歌露儿·普莱斯，在跌宕起伏的新故事中，她与瑞秋·安布尔结成了一段不可思议的友谊。本游戏荣获英国电影和电视艺术学院(BAFTA)最佳剧情游戏奖。

　　游戏本体已经于9月1日正式发售。

Square Enix has released the teaser trailer for Episode 2 of Life is Strange: Before the Storm.

The full trailer will be released tomorrow, October 12, at 5:30 p.m. BST / 9:30 a.m. PT / 12:30 p.m. ET.

Episode 1 of Life is Strange: Before the Storm is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Episode 2 has yet to be dated. The game will conclude with Episode 3.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm Episode 2: 'Brave New World' Coming October 19

Brave New World, the second episode of the three part series, will be available on October 19 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC (Steam).

The new ‘Life is Strange: Before the Storm Episode 2 Trailer’ sets the scene for the events of Episode 2: Brave New World, showcasing some new characters and environments alongside others that are making a return from the first game. As Chloe and Rachel’s family life continues to crumble, their friendship blossoms and the two girls discuss running away together. But before they can go, Chloe gets involved with an errand for Frank Bowers which puts her in a dangerous situation and exposes an uglier side to Arcadia Bay…

Life is Strange: Before the Storm is set in Arcadia Bay, three years before the events of the first game in the series. 　　《奇异人生：暴风前夕》是一款全新推出的独立冒险故事，共有三个章节，本次放出的是第三章（最终章）确认将在12月20日上线，对应平台为PS4、Xbox One和PC。同时公开的还有一段仅为14秒的介绍宣传片，完整版宣传片将会在明天正式公开。

　　《奇异人生：风暴之前》是一款前传性质的作品，游戏故事发生在初代作品设定的3年前，游戏的主角Chloe Price和Rachel Amber将一起找寻冲破心中恶魔的方法，而玩家将作为见证者来体验这段故事。另外游戏的正统续作也已经在开发中，发售日暂时还未公开。

The third and final episode of Life is Strange: Before the Storm, titled “Hell is Empty,” will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on December 20, Sqarue Enix announced.

Square Enix also released a 14-second teaser trailer for the episode, the full version of which will be released on December 6 at 9:30 a.m. PT / 12:30 p.m. ET / 5:30 p.m. GMT. Here’s an overview of the video:

In the trailer, we see Chloe struggling to keep grasp of the events unraveling in front of her as we hurtle towards a dramatic conclusion and the consequences of your all your actions so far. 　　Square Enix 今天凌晨宣布，章节制游戏《奇异人生 暴风前夕》将于3月6日推出实体版本（3月6日登陆北美、3月9日登陆欧洲），登陆 PS4/Xbox One/PC 三平台。实体版将分为限定版和黑胶版两个版本，其中限定版包含三章主线内容以及额外章节“再见”（其中 PC 版为 Steam 下载版，而非光盘）和之前数字版的各种特典，还有一本艺术书和原声 CD，售价39.99美元。

　　黑胶版将在限定版的基础上，加入一个大型收纳盒、数张黑胶盘。该版本将只在 Square Enix 线上商店发售，售价69.99美元。

　　现在预订以上两个版本，都可以获得克洛伊和瑞秋的小人偶。

Square Enix will release physical limited and vinyl editions of Life is Strange: Before the Storm for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on March 6 in North America and March 9 in Europe, the company announced. A bonus episode entitled “Farewell” will also launch digitally across all territories on March 6.

In this exclusive episode, players see the return of a young Max Caulfield. This episode welcomes the original voice actors Ashly Burch & Hannah Telle, resuming their roles as Chloe and Max. 　　在有关《奇异人生 暴风前夕》追加章节“告别”的官方博客文章中，有这么一段话：“但是当一扇门关上时，会有一扇窗打开，或是别的什么。接下来的几个月，Dontnod 中 Michel Koch 和 Raoul Barbet 的工作组将带来《奇异人生》新作的内容，包含新故事、新人物，敬请期待。”

　　文章还暗示了Chloe 和 Max 再次相遇的可能性，所以追加章节“告别”对系列粉丝来说应该是有诸多含义的一章。考虑到接下来的几个月后 E3 发布会的召开，似乎正是公布新作的好机会。Dontnod 和 Square-Enix，究竟会如何续写《奇异人生》的故事呢？让我们拭目以待吧。

We are excited to say that the Bonus episode of Life is Strange: Before the Storm, entitled ‘Farewell’, is available to download now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC (Steam). This episode welcomes back the original voice actors Ashly Burch & Hannah Telle who resume their roles as Chloe and Max in an emotional and nostalgic trip down memory lane. The physical, boxed version of Life is Strange: Before the Storm is also available now in the US and will be available in PAL territories on Friday 9th March 2018.

Fans who have the base game but wish to play Farewell can still upgrade to the Deluxe edition which will also give them access to extra outfits for the maingame, and a mixtape mode to create custom playlists of the in-game licensed music.

The boxed, Limited Edition of Life is Strange: Before the Storm is available from participating retailers and contains a physical artbook featuring art from Life is Strange: Before the Storm plus the licensed soundtrack on CD.
