Bomb squad called in over Watch Dogs PR stunt

PR stunt for video game Watch Dogs sees bomb squad called to NineMSN offices in Australia Square

A PR stunt for a new video game saw the bomb squad called to NineMSN’s offices yesterday afternoon after a black safe was delivered to the Australia Square offices of the publisher along with a “suspicious” letter which told a reporter to “check your voicemail”.

However, the reporter did not have a voicemail, and when staff tried to enter a pin code taped to the top of the safe, which was dropped off by a courier but not signed for, it started to beep but did not open, leading to fears it could be an explosive device.

Mi9 staff on the sixth floor of the George Street offices were sent home, and bomb squad officers called in to open the box in the basement of the building. Inside was a copy of new Ubisoft video game Watch Dogs alongside a baseball cap and beanie, and a note saying it was embargoed until 5pm.

NineMSN editor Hal Crawford told Mumbrella: “This is definitely the other side of the line in terms of what it’s safe for a PR company to send anonymously to a newsroom. The thing was black, heavy and slightly creepy.”

“We did check with other newsrooms to see if they had received a similar package as we thought it was a PR stunt, but no-one else had. We weren’t panicked at any point, but given there was no note explaining what it was, we had to take sensible precautions.”

Ubisoft has not responded to Mumbrella’s repeated requests for comment today, and it is unclear whether the package was sent by the internal PR team, or an agency acting on their behalf.

　　昨天育碧大作《看门狗》终于在PS4、PS3、XBOX ONE、XBOX 360和PC平台发售。24小时过去，育碧宣布《看门狗》的首日销量突破了公司以往的所有作品。不过，育碧并未透漏《看门狗》首日的具体销量。

　　育碧的联合创始人和CEO Yves Guillemot说：“《看门狗》是一款不可思议的作品，我们的团队应该为自己付出的努力和创造而骄傲。非常高兴看到那么多玩家喜欢这款游戏，《看门狗》也为我们制作新的次时代大作指明了方向。”

　　之前，很多媒体给予了这款游戏平均8分(10分满分)的评价，虽然不像早先传得神乎其神，不过依旧是一款优秀的作品，这款游戏的中文版将于2014年6月26日发售。而游戏WiiU版的发售日期还未确定。

育碧确认《看门狗》首周销量已达到400万份

　　育碧《看门狗》已经于2014年5月27日登陆PS3、PS4、XBOX 360、XBOX One和PC平台，在游戏发售后不久育碧就确认本作的首日销量打破了育碧游戏首日销量历史记录，不过当时他们并没有公开具体销量数字。而现在育碧又公开了新的销量情报，并表示本作在发售后的首周已经卖出了400万份。

　　对此，育碧英国的销售总监Darren Bowen表示：“我们在游戏发售第一周所取得的成果是非常惊人的，这也验证了育碧开发全新重磅级IP及彻底的次世代游戏体验的承诺。”

　　游戏的WiiU版尚未发售，不过根据此前的情报，本作的WiiU版预计于2014年秋季推出。本作在WiiU平台上是否也能拥有如此优秀的表现呢?就让我们拭目以待吧。

《看门狗》新任务即将推出 含全新武器及奖励

　　育碧的《看门狗》已经于2014年5月27日登陆PS3、PS4、XBOX 360、XBOX One和PC平台，而日前官方宣布将推出三个新的单人任务供玩家们体验。当玩家们完成这三个任务后，将能够得到许多奖励，其中也包括新的武器和装备。这些新任务的细节如下：

　　The Palace Single Player Mission：警方计划突袭某个互联网巨头的豪宅，这位巨头的数据库中拥有许多人的信息，其中自然也包含Dedsec以及主角艾登·皮尔斯的情报。玩家们需要在警方行动之前闯入其中，彻底清空他的硬盘并顺利逃走。

　　Signature Shot Single Player Mission：某个含有生物识别技术的武器已被送到到芝加哥的Black Viceroys团伙中。该武器仅能由第一个握住其把手的人来使用，而玩家们需要侵入他们的据点将其偷出来，并抢先成为其使用者。

　　Breakthrough Single Player Mission：某个秘密聚会正在私下进行中，Chicago South Club和企业的CEO们正在进行谈判，会场中还布置了扰频器来阻止监视设备正常运行。而玩家们需要找到干扰车辆并解决他们的技术成员，最后找到会议举行地点并排除所有的会议参加者。

　　完成这些任务后玩家们可以获得新武器，其中包括生物步枪和Auto-6手枪，此外玩家们还能得到许多其他奖励。这些任务于2014年7月2日开始提供下载，玩家们马上就能够亲身体验到这些新任务所带来的乐趣了。

　　日前育碧公司公开了《看门狗》的全新剧情DLC“Bad Blood”，并确认该DLC首先会于2014年9月23日针对已购买季票的用户开放，而9月30日则针对其余所有玩家放出。

　　“Bad Blood”剧情DLC将包含全新的故事，玩家们将操作原作中那位天才而古怪的黑客T-Bone进行游戏，而该DLC将通过遍布芝加哥的10个新任务来展开T-Bone的独特故事。在原作的事件后不久，T-Bone渗入了Blume并最后一次在他们的网络中安置假线索，不过在离开之前他收到了来自曾经的同行Tobias Frewer的求助电话。由于自己的逃脱也处在风险之中，T-Bone决定帮助这位老友，不过他很快意识到他这位老朋友的故事似乎不太合理，而玩家们的新故事也由此展开。

Watch Dogs 'Bad Blood' DLC Announced

Today, Ubisoft announced that Watch_Dogs Bad Blood, a new downloadable piece of content for Watch_Dogs, the record-breaking open-world action game that has sold-in more than 8 million units, will release on September 23 for season pass holders and September 30 for all other players.

Watch_Dogs Bad Blood features an all new story campaign starring T-Bone, the brilliant and eccentric hacker players first met in Watch_Dogs, who is now playable for the first time. The campaign explores T-Bone’s story through 10 new missions set in new locations throughout Chicago. Shortly after the events of Watch_Dogs, Raymond “T-Bone” Kenney infiltrates Blume one last time to plant a false trail in their system. Before he can disappear from the grid, he receives a panicked phone call from Tobias Frewer, a former colleague from Blume’s ctOS prototype days, who’s in desperate need of help. Putting his own escape at risk, T-Bone decides to help, but quickly realises the details of his old friend’s story aren’t adding up.

Watch_Dogs Bad Blood also grants players access to “Street Sweep” contracts, a dynamic new system of side missions that offers players endless hours of challenges. All Street Sweep contracts are playable in co-op mode (friend or public sessions), a first for Watch_Dogs, allowing two players to work together to combat Chicago’s criminal groups. Overview

In Watch_Dogs you followed the story of Aiden Pearce, a brilliant hacker whose criminal past led to a violent family tragedy. His mission for vengeance was joined by fellow outsiders who live in the shadows and out of the sight of ctOS.

One of these outsiders was Raymond Kenney. Also known as ‘T-Bone Grady’, Kenney is a legendary hacker who built the early prototype of ctOS while still working for the Blume Corporation. After the events of Watch_Dogs, all he wants is to escape Blume for good.

Ubisoft Announces Release Date for wii U

Today, Ubisoft announced that record-breaking open-world action game, Watch Dogs, will be available for the Wii U system from Nintendo on November 18 in North America and November 20 in Europe.

Watch Dogs will take full advantage of the Wii U specific hardware with a detailed and interactive map of Chicago displayed on the Wii U GamePad. The game also features Off-TV Play, letting gamers continue playing Watch Dogs solely on the Wii U GamePad.

The development of Watch Dogs on Wii U is being led by Ubisoft Bucharest, in collaboration with Ubisoft Montreal.

Watch Dogs tells the story of Aiden Pearce, a brilliant hacker whose criminal past led to a violent family tragedy. Now on the hunt for those who hurt his family, players will be able to monitor and hack their enemies by manipulating everything connected to the city’s Central Operating System (ctOS).
