Square Enix & Dontnod Entertainment announce new title

Square Enix today announced that the brand new, episodic, digitally delivered, narrative driven adventure game entitled Life is Strange is coming to the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360 and Windows PC.

Developed by Dontnod Entertainment, the Paris-based studio who released their debut game Remember Me last year the game takes place in the fictional town of Arcadia Bay, Oregon, where senior student Max Caulfield returns after a 5 year absence. Reunited with her former friend Chloe, the pair will attempt to uncover the uncomfortable truth behind the mysterious disappearance of fellow student Rachel Amber.

With high quality production values and a unique hand-drawn art style, Life is Strange is a compelling, story-driven experience where choice and consequence play a key role in how the narrative unfolds. But there is a twist. At the beginning of the game Max discovers she has a remarkable power… the ability to rewind time. In Life is Strange the player has the power to affect the game’s narrative and also change the course of history itself.

SQUARE ENIX 并未公布《Life is Strange》的发售日期，但是本作将在本周的Gamescom 中展出。

《奇异人生》科隆游戏展放出5分钟试玩影像

Life is Strange - Release Date and Price Announced

Square Enix and Dontnod Entertainment today announced the release date of the brand new, episodic, narrative driven adventure game Life is Strange that is coming to the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows PC.

Episode 1 of a 5 part series will be released on all platforms on January 30, 2015 and each episode will cost $4.99. Players can alternatively purchase the entire season for $19.99. The PC version will be available for pre-purchase starting today.

Hello from all of the DONTNOD development team.

We’re still hard at work at the studio but would like to share the second Life is Strange Dev Diary for you to see more of the game we’ve been creating here in Paris.

This second video from the three part series is called The Butterfly Effect, and it explains everything you need to know about Max’s ability to rewind time — including how the concept originated and exactly how rewinding time in Life is Strange works.

Life is Strange Episode 1 Out Tomorrow, Launch Trailer

   

Life is Strange Episode 1 Out Tomorrow on PS4, PS3

Hi everyone, Jmax from Dontnod here, and I’m delighted to share the launch trailer for Life is Strange, which is out tomorrow on PS4 and PS3!

We are all thrilled at the idea that players are finally getting their hands on our new game. It’s been an intense and sometimes challenging journey, but it was definitely worth it. And, well, it’s far from over, as the team here is very hard at work on parts 2 through 5, ensuring they get released at timely intervals so you always know when the next one is going to drop.

The first episode that you’ll play is called Chrysalis, and it’s basically an introduction to the world of Life is Strange. You’ll see Max and Chloe reunite and you’ll make important choices that will influence their destiny. You will see some of the short-term consequences of those choices but bear in mind that there are also mid and long-term repercussions that will pan out over the course of the later episodes, in a butterfly effect manner. So you might rewind your choices as much as you want in the short term but you will never know what might happen further down the line. And of course we’ll ensure that you always get surprised by unexpected turns of events and that your experience really feels unique and customized by your choices.

This first episode is also an introduction to the general mechanics of the game, and although Life is Strange emphasizes story and choice over puzzles, you will also see an evolution over the next episodes in terms of how you need to combine different types of interactions and rewinds.

A trial is also coming to PS4 and PS3 so you can get a feel for the game before you make your first meaningful choice: to buy or not to buy!

So that’s it, I hope you like the trailer and the first episode, and we already can’t wait to bring you parts 2 through 5!

开发商称《奇异人生》第二章2015年3月内上架

　　《奇异人生》是一款章节式配信游戏，游戏的第一章已经于2015年1月30日推出，第二章原计划于3月13日配信，而此前Square Enix则表示第二章会延期推出。不过日前游戏开发商Dontnod Entertainment则表示之前的延期消息只是一个“传闻”，游戏的第二章开发仍处在正确轨道上，他们预计会在3月之内推出。

　　Dontnod Entertainment通过游戏的官方推特透露了这一消息，他们表示：“之前有第二章延期的传闻，不过游戏的发售仍在轨道上，我们预计会在3月之内发售。”

　　　　不过实际上，官方的这一说法并没有说明第二章是否会按照原定的计划在3月13日推出，也不清楚3月13日是否只是误传的发售日。具体细节还有待进一步证实，请玩家们耐心等待后续报道。
